The low-key Ocean Spray Hotel stands in the middle of Miami Beach and provides moderate prices and easy access via walks or taxis to the boardwalk, beach and world- renown restaurants, shops and nightlife in South Beach. The pale-green, art-deco hotel from the 1930s sits in the quieter mid-Beach area, allowing guests to get a good night's sleep after sightseeing and partying in SoBe (that's Miami lingo for South Beach). The beach in these parts is less of a people-watching scene than South Beach but guests can find parking much easier. Across the street from the hotel and less than half a block away is the boardwalk, perfect for walking, jogging, strolling and people watching.
As with most SoBe hotels, the Ocean Spray kept its original terrazzo floor and art-deco "eyebrows," the layers of ledges above the doorway. Renovated and re-opened in 2003, the Ocean Spray sports a front porch lined with Philippe Starck Bubble Club patio furniture, a lobby with potted palms, a large TV in a pale-wood armoire, tan and blue chairs, and a breakfast room with eight Formica tables, black-straw chairs and freshly baked cookies. Guests receive complimentary continental breakfasts and coffee, tea, and fresh fruits around the clock. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but guests will find plenty of dining options in the surrounding area, especially in South Beach.
Surrounded with art-deco inspired furnishings, guestrooms include white tiled bathrooms, premium cable channels and awe-inspiring views of the city, bay and or ocean. They include CD players, refrigerators, vessel sinks, fancy ProTerra bath amenities, and Internet access.
The Ocean Spray's guests include young people, groups and families, and occasional business travelers.
